May 30, 2010 A Rose is a Rose
My rose bush was covered in beautiful fragrant blooms this year. My grandma had one of these as did my mom. (mine is a shoot from hers). They fade too quickly and are a reminder to stop today and smell the roses. If we wait til later we might miss out! Find something today to enjoy!

April 13, 2010 Petals
I have always loved roses! My grandmother and my mother both had rose bushes. Grandma Ida had a yellow climbing rose with the prettiest, most fragrant roses. A friend, Pearl had one with beautiful light pink roses. Mom's wasn't a climbing rose, just a bush with vibrant deep pink flowers. I got a shoot from her years ago, NOTHING smells as wonderful as those old fashioned roses. I often scour the clearance areas of stores to see if they have fresh flowers on sale. Often they do and I usually get some and enjoy them while they last. When I look at the way the petals are folded together it is amazing. The creator has caused the bush to form a bud with dozens of petals each carefully folded and tucked tightly in place til the time comes to slowly and gently open to reveal it's secrets. Were you or I to try with our hands to carefully tuck all those petals into such a small tight space we just couldn't do it with the precision of the creator. God put so much creativity into the rose, so many colors, varieties, scents and sizes. All that for something that is here today and gone tomorrow. The bible says we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Examine your fingerprint, it's one of a kind, study your own eyes, the colors and flecks, consider all the knowledge you have gained and is stored in your mind. As wonderful and fascinating as the rose is, it does not compare with God's most precious creation, you and I.

Faded Love February 24, 2010
I'm tired tonight, so another short post. Just wanted to say that I am so thankful that God's Love NEVER fades. No matter what I do or don't do, He never tires of me. His love does not grow cold, distant or indifferent. His love will remain powerful, steadfast, and true for all eternity. His love is sweet like the scent of a rose, breath-taking yet tender. I trust His love, I cling to His love, I find rest and peace in His love. Do you know His love, He tells us of his great love in the Bible, you can read about it for yourself.

Roses Remember January 2, 2010
I am a collector of things. Pretty things, old things, new things, special things, funny things and even a few strange things! These things have special homes within my home. Many of my favorite things are in the hutch I bought my first year of marriage nearly 30 years ago. These scented wax balls in their pretty dish have been in the hutch since I got it and they still smell like roses. The roses have not been there quite as long but they have all accompanied me on this journey of life, love, and family. As the years pass, I will add more treasures to my collections. My treasures are really reminders of the blessings God has bestowed on me. Life, love and family. Gifts, talents and abilities. Freedom, peace, joy, eternal life. The roses remember......
