June 10, 2010 Pink Rose

June 4, 2010 Honey~

After a long drive we needed to stop and stretch so we decided to check out Keystone SD. It was kinda raining so we walked from to shop to shop there were some older buildings and an historic train ( we only say the tracks and the depot was a shop). These pretty columbine or honeysuckle as we called them as kids were growing outside the depot. I had never seen one in these colors, they were so big and beautiful! Hope you enjoy it!

May 30, 2010 A Rose is a Rose

My rose bush was covered in beautiful fragrant blooms this year. My grandma had one of these as did my mom. (mine is a shoot from hers). They fade too quickly and are a reminder to stop today and smell the roses. If we wait til later we might miss out! Find something today to enjoy!

Spring Buds! March 22, 2010

My grandma always kept geraniums in soup cans (instead of flower pots) on a shelf by the window in her dining room all winter long. There were always blooms, I have pics of a Christmas get-together and there were geraniums blooming! I try to bring in a few each fall and have had them bloom for me at Christmas as well. This winter I did not bring them in but have this one my sis gave me years ago, it is blooming for me now just in time for spring. Funny sometimes the things we remember, the traditions we find ourselves enjoying and the connections we have to loved ones. You may not have a geranium in a soup can on your window sill but I hope that you enjoy some little tradition that brings pleasant memories of the past and loved ones passed on. If not, it is never to late to start a tradition!

Pink Glass January 9, 2010

Pink Glass, originally uploaded by picturethepromises.

Something a little different today. A piece of my antique pink depression glass. I have many pieces of the pink, a few of the green, a couple of gold and two of the deep blue. I remember my grandmothers having and using the pretty bowls and plates. We would have sauce in the little green bowls. Sweet salad was presented in the pretty pink bowl. They were used only for special occasions and handled very carefully.

I have a couple pieces that had belonged to my grandmothers, the rest I have purchased or received as gifts. I use them whenever I can, I so enjoy them! We all have treasures. Some things may be valuable in dollars but if we never use them, look at them, enjoy them, that's a shame! I hope your treasures bring you pleasure!
