July 14, 2010 Waiting for the Sun

I had a few volunteer sunflowers in my flower bed this spring. This one is at eye level for my 5'3" frame. How fun to watch it change from day to day!

June 13, 2010 Moss Rose

Moss Rose, originally uploaded by pictureapromise.

This little beauty is in a hanging basket in my front flower bed. Love Moss Roses and the bright pinks are my favorites. A summer pic! Tried it in the Black and White just to see what it would look like. I still like the pink! What do you think?

Blessings as you enjoy your summer!

May 30, 2010 A Rose is a Rose

My rose bush was covered in beautiful fragrant blooms this year. My grandma had one of these as did my mom. (mine is a shoot from hers). They fade too quickly and are a reminder to stop today and smell the roses. If we wait til later we might miss out! Find something today to enjoy!

Blessings!

May 6, 2010 Lily Love

Found two pretty lilies for two wonderful moms for Mother's Day. Took advantage of the beauties being in my home for a few days and took a few shot. I love Lilies, they are fascinating! I'm so thankful for my mom and I love her! Thankful for her mom and my dad's mom and my cousins mom and my hubby's mom too. Each one has blessed me. God put lot's of moms in my life to teach me, encourage me, challenge me and even occasionally chide and guide me. If you have a mom or moms in your life that has blessed you, let them know this weekend how much you appreciate them. Blessings~

April 21, 2010 Contrasts

More spring blossoms today. A few days and the flowering crab apple trees will be blooming. They have lots of buds. I love the contrast of the red leaves and the blue sky. Blessings~

April 19, 2010 Bloomer

I walk past a neighbors yard every day. Last fall I so enjoyed the beautiful leaves on her two little maple trees. This spring when I walked by I noticed something I missed last spring. The little trees had tiny little flowers on them. As I've watched I have learned that before the leaves come the little maple trees bloom! Carrying my camera with me everywhere everyday has helped me open my eyes to the wonder that is around me all the time. My pic a day project has not only helped me learn more about my camera and about photography (composition, lighting, and so forth), it has taught me to be more aware of the world around me and to see things in greater detail, to not just look but to really see. This is a project I would recommend to anyone, photog or not! You could try it for just a month or even a week, I know it will have an impact. Blessings~

Pretty Pink March 24, 2010

Today the geranium blossom was fully opened! There are tons of buds and so I will have lots of pretty little blooms in the days and weeks ahead. A little taste of summer days to come! As I look out into my yard and my gardens it is clear that there is some work to be done before I will see any bloom outdoors! All the hard work is worth it when your gardens begin to bloom however! I can't wait to share some of it with you!

Spring Buds! March 22, 2010

My grandma always kept geraniums in soup cans (instead of flower pots) on a shelf by the window in her dining room all winter long. There were always blooms, I have pics of a Christmas get-together and there were geraniums blooming! I try to bring in a few each fall and have had them bloom for me at Christmas as well. This winter I did not bring them in but have this one my sis gave me years ago, it is blooming for me now just in time for spring. Funny sometimes the things we remember, the traditions we find ourselves enjoying and the connections we have to loved ones. You may not have a geranium in a soup can on your window sill but I hope that you enjoy some little tradition that brings pleasant memories of the past and loved ones passed on. If not, it is never to late to start a tradition!
