A Sweet Treat

Today's moment is a sweet little treat, fresh strawberries and real whipped cream in one of my new dessert dishes. They are new to me but they are antiques. I won them in an auction at church today. They were new when a sweet friend of mine was a new bride nearly 55 years ago. She started to tell me about the tables being set with white table cloths and the newly acquired glassware for a celebration for her and her new groom. We were interrupted so I hope to hear the rest of the story soon!

July 7, 2010 A lite snack!

A lite snack!, originally uploaded by pictureapromise.

A couple days ago I posted a pic of a bowl of gooseberries I had picked. Today I made some yummy jam. Just threw them in my Healthmaster Juicer and then cooked them up. It is very sweet but oh so yummy! Really good with the salty club cracker. Hope your day is full of sweet things!

April 20, 2010 Apricot Blossoms

Finally it really feels, looks and smells like spring. The apricot trees in my mother in laws yard are blooming. They are the first trees to fill the air with sweet smelling dainty blooms. We don't always get apricots but it is so fun to see the flowers! They only last a shot while. Next to come, the chokecherries, crab apples and I see the beginnings of blooms on my lilac bushes. Sweetness in the air! I'll post pics for you as they bloom.... Blessings~

Bowl full of Sugar January 4, 2010

Bowl full of Sugar, originally uploaded by picturethepromises.

Here in ND we had another cloudy dreary day. That makes shooting outdoors hard. The snow looks gray, the sky is gray, trees, roads even houses are gray. So what to find to shoot inside without the wonderful sunlight I had yesterday. I don't like to use my flash so how do I get enough light? I wanted a little more than the ceiling lights will give me and I don't have a soft box. However, I do have an Ott-Light.. I have not tried this before but I think it worked ok. I set the bowl of leftover candy under the light and used the manual setting on my camera. I like the result. That's the point of this project. To learn, learn, learn!

It is the middle of winter, there will be plenty of dreary days, I will probably do this again!
Blessings~
